Rongrong Zhang

Rongrong was born in 1989 in Qingdao in the eastern Shandong province of China. She graduated as a Bachelor of engineering from Shandong University, after which she moved to Sweden and got a Master of Arts at the University of Lund.

With this path, Rongrong is not schooled in design in a traditional sense and does not carry with her the same design heritage that is often related to Denmark. However, the young designer considers it liberating not to be predisposed to a certain view of design.

“Design is to express a point of view – what do I want it to be? It’s the very first thing I consider when starting a new design project. This intuition is the foundation on which everything else grows. It won’t be the same every time, but it always shares the same principles of being simple and sensible. Good design may generate resonance when you look at it as long as it moves you.”
