Stretch Collection
The Stretch collection is characterized by long, solid pine planks that emphasize the robustness, durability and quality of the design. The design is the epitome of utilitarian minimalism - no superfluous details are applied. Instead, Stretch possesses a simple, uncomplicated and welcoming design language. The collection consists of a stool of 40 cm, a bench of 160 cm and a longer bench of 200 cm. All three utilize full-length pine planks of a certain thickness, a choice that emphasizes the beauty and strength of the material. The durable, welcoming appeal of the pine wood will be further enhanced over time. Compared to other wood types, which are more homogeneous, pine acquires a stunning patina over time, designed to last a lifetime and to age beautifully.
The natural wood is lacquered with a clear, matt UV varnish that provides protection from the rays of the sun. The collection offers options for a wide range of environments: The stool as a side table or nightstand, and the benches as seating in a long hallway or along one side of the dining table.
Simon Legald
Simon Legald graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in the summer of 2012. His work consists of both small- and large scale products. Simon's designs are often created in a dialogue between craftsmanship and industry. He also likes to incorporate the techniques that are necessary for the structure of a product into the design by highlighting them visually.
"Honesty is what makes a product understandable and is what describes the products functionality. If you understand the product, it does not need any explanation. The essence of my design is for it to be bought and used. Therefore, it has to satisfy not only the functional aspects, but also the psychological and aesthetic needs. For me simplicity describes the true identity of objects and makes them trustworthy. In my design, I try not to add any unnecessary details. I work with simplicity by highlighting the necessities instead of hiding them. It gives the product a simple and honest expression."
